The Grind
We all have a grind. -a routine that’s firmly carved into our daily lives.
For me, it’s taking the kids to school and all the stuff I do before then. And work during the day…putting out fires, starting new ones, tending to all the irons in the fires, and trying to stay up on the news in-between the chaos while making sure I have dinner/night arrangements set for my family and doing my cleaning chores. Then I hit the gym, shower, and prepare for the same the next day all over again.
While grinds vary for different people, depending on life circumstances, the nature of a grind doesn’t. A grind is a daily routine combined with action and responsibilities fueled by habit (pre-formed intention). And like you can lose yourself sometimes while driving – go on auto-pilot – the same is true when you’re in your daily grind. We can lose ourselves while doing it too. When this happens, our senses dull and “being present” in our lives takes a backseat. As result, we forget how sweet the fresh, green grass smells and feels on our bare feet as we traverse back and forth in our everyday grind. It’s like the grind is a giant vacuum that sucks us up and away to a closed-off, stress-filled place (inside of a frenzied genie bottle) and we lose presence in our lives as it’s happening. -Causing us to not feel joy and appreciation throughout the day.
One way to counteract this “grind auto-pilot effect” that happens to many of us (including me) is a practice called “Day Check.”
“Day Check” is a hodge-podge of meditations / affirmations / guideposts that you can use every morning, before the day starts, to get your spiritual house in order.
Each day, Day Check will clear unneeded, spiritual cobwebs and cords so that you’re intentionally present, focused, and alert, this frequency which will continue for the day. While your Day Check can include any topics/matters that you want, (and mine evolves and changes over time), I’m attaching an example of mine to get the idea. Include trigger issues that you need to work on, -“big red buttons” to push in your Day Check so that you’re already on your way to accomplishing that goal when you read it/apply it. Include positive affirmations that resonate with you. See your Day Check as a way to affirmatively engage with yourself and the universe (a meditation), which it is.
I’ve discovered that if I intentionally and meaningfully have a “Day Check” each day, then my days are ferociously so much better. I produce more. I’m happier. I’m more present with my family, and more relaxed, yet peacefully alert overall. I do better work, and I relax better too when the time comes for it. Maybe it’s magic or some quantum, deliberate energy focus of Day Check…I don’t know. But what I do know is that it works. So, give it a try.
Make yourself a “Day Check” and include it in your everyday, morning routine when you’re having coffee or tea and watching the sun rise, or whatever time works for you. Appreciate and value your “Day Check” and store it in a valued, treasured manner. I keep mine in a special leather folder on my desk, and I never put it away after using it. I leave it on my desk as a gentle, guiding force that’s visible to me as I work and come and go throughout the day.
After a while, you’ll start doing a “Day Check” everyday out of habit, which is a great habit to have to unleash meaningful, deliberate intention and power every day. You’ll see a huge difference in lowering grind autopilot, making you a more focused, happier person. Day Check has done wonders for me and so I wanted to share this with you.
DAILY CHECK
I hereby ground all anger, frustration, worry, doubt, and toxic emotion into the vastness of God’s earth. Like lightning striking the earth, the charge is real, and the earth’s soil lovingly accepts it and sends it out into the universe for transformation into love.
I cut all spiritual cords and tensions that are negative and do not serve me, and I remove them. I vacuum up the spiritual debris with God’s holy light (spiritual and physical) and I turn it over to God.
FILL IN WORRIES THAT YOU HAVE RIGHT NOW
I am at peace. I am healed. I am protected by God and all of his glory. God protects my husband and children, as well as my parents and sisters and their children and spouses.
I thank God for this miracle, including the universe and archangels, masters, and angels, and all that they entail.
I hereby declare balance in my life.
This includes my four physical needs:
- Breathing, fitness, and moving (being alive) and sleep;
- Consumption;
- Elimination; and
- Love (Agape love).
This includes my four wants:
- Being a good wife and mother;
- Writing/teaching;
- Gardening and being outdoors; and
- Reading and studying/learning.
Having grounded myself and established my freedom and balance as to the conditions in which I live, I hereby DECREE, elementally and otherwise, that I now manifest (make tangible on this plane as appearing in my physical and emotional reality), the following, and to continue forevermore:
FILL IN MANIFESTATIONS STATEMENTS OF INTENTION/WHAT YOU WANT IN YOUR LIFE (PAST TENSE/AS ALREADY HAVING HAPPENED)
Today is a beautiful day, and it shall be beautiful and powerful in all ways, in my favor. I will work hard today, love vibrantly today, and rest well today knowing that God has my back in all ways, and that I’m destined to produce greatly and help others in His name. Neither worry nor fear is needed, for God is my power and support. Amen.
Affirmations:
- There is magic in everything.
- Dwell in Possibility.
- I am a powerful, successful manifester, which I’ve always been and always will be, and I will use this gift to help others and my community.
